Shrinkhala crowned Miss Nepal World 2018

Shrinkhala Khatiwada from Hetauda has bagged the coveted title of Miss Nepal World 2018. At a gala event held in the Capital on Wednesday evening, Khatiwada pipped 25 other contestants to become the 23rd Miss Nepal, while also bagging two other subtitles—Miss Beautiful Hair and Face of Fascino. Manita Devkota, Priya Sigdel and Ronali Amatya won Miss Nepal Universe, Miss Nepal Earth and Miss Nepal International titles, respectively.

Wednesday’s show was the culmination of a seven-week long training that commenced after auditions were held in eight different cities in the country that had drawn thousands of applicants. As part of the preparations, the 25 contestants travelled to Dhulikhel and Pokhara, where they partook in trainings facilitated by professionals from various walks of life and competed in various subtitle competitions such as Miss Talent, Miss Athlete, Miss Intellectual, Miss Beautiful Hair, Miss Confident, Miss Best Complexion and among others.

Speaking to the Post, Gopal Sundar Lal Kakshapati, chairman of The Hidden Treasure, said, “We are very pleased with the outcome this year, and the event and the winners were all well received.”

“Like I said from the very beginning, the competition is tough this year, all the 25 contestants vying for the coveted crown were equally competent. I am sure the judges had a difficult task. Also, the girls displayed great personality and presence on stage, I have never received such positive vibes in the past,” Kakshapati said. He added, “I am happy for all the four contestants—Shrinkhala, Manita, Priya and Ronali for winning the titles,” he said. In a departure from previous years, the gala event drew largely positive responses from viewers, particularly for the poised answers delivered by the contestants in the final rounds. The show was, however, not free of glitches with several power outages (including one during the crowning) marring the programme. “You were under the illusion that this was an international event,” the host for the evening, Suraj Giri, had joked at one point about the power outage, “We had to bring you back to reality that the show is being hosted in Nepal.” The four winners will now start preparations for international pageants set to be held later this year. According to Kakshapati, no official confirmation has been made by the international pageants on the dates yet.
