Directed by Pradeep Bhattarai, the film is produced under the banner of MaHa Sanchar. The film will mark the first outing for director Bhattarai since last year’s hit Jatra.
Alongside Acharya and Shrestha, the film, a comedy, will also feature actors Deepak Raj Giri, Deepashree Niraula, Priyanka Karki, Shivahari Poudel, and Mohit Acharya, among others. The producers announced that the film will be shot in Birgunj and Kathmandu.
Shatru Gate will end Maha Sanchar’s decade-long hiatus.
The last film to be filmed under that banner was Je Bho Ramrai Bho, in 2005.
The duo, known as MaHa Jodi, had of late been involved in other projects and social activism. Both Acharya and Shrestha have also come up with their memoirs, Cheena Harayeko Manchhe and MaHa ko Ma, respectively.
Prior to Shatru Gate, the duo has films and tele-serials like 15 Gate, Gaunkhane Katha, Lobhi Papi, Dashain, Je Bho Ramrai Bho (2003), Balidan, Ticket No. 216777, Raat, 205, Chiranjibi, Jalpari, Oh:Ho, Madan Bahadur Hari Bahadur, and Aama, among others.
The producers plan to release the film by March, 2018.
