The Nepali film Dui Rupaiyan, which features this summer’s runaway hit song Kutu Ma Kutu, is releasing this weekend. Before its release, the cast and crew of the film travelled to Narayangarh on Wednesday as part of its pre-release promotion and engaged in a discussion with film enthusiasts there. Kutu ma Kutu, the widely-acclaimed song from the film, has crossed 21 million views on YouTube, establishing itself firmly as one of the most-viewed Nepali videos of all time on the video sharing site.
Speaking at the function in Narayangarh, the film’s actor and executive producer Asif Shah said, “The film is a story about how a small error can have a bevy of consequences.” “Even though the film is named Dui Rupaiyan, the film’s production cost has exceeded a crore,” Shah went on. “The audience are excited, thanks in part to the film’s popular song...The film is a comedy and we assure that it won’t let one down.”
The film also features Nischal Basnet. “The idea came about during the production of the film Karkash. I found it entertaining, especially its lighthearted approach to comedy,” Basnet said. “Let’s just say that the film is entertaining to watch.”
Dui Rupaiyan is directed by Asim Shah. Along with Shah and Basnet, the film features actors Buddhi Tamang, Rabindra Jha, Menuka Pradhan, and Tika Pahari, among others.
