The Association of Nepali Theatre Artists—Natyakarmi Mahasangh—has announced insurance worth Rs 100,000 for accidents theatre artists may suffer while performing a drama. The announcement was made, after the Association signed an agreement with National Insurance Company, during the first leg of Natya Bimarsha, organised by the Association, in the Capital.
Speaking at the event, senior actor Harihar Sharma said, “Theatre artists always embrace this slogan: The show must go on. The recent announcement is sure to provide Nepali theatre artists with extra energy and a sense of security.”
Meanwhile, chairperson of the Association, Bijay Bisphot, said that the accidents are more frequent in street dramas. “Accidents mainly occur during the course of street dramas organised by various NGOs and INGOs. We are on way to create a law where only those artists who are insured can act in a street play,” said Bisphot.
