The recently-released hit Loot 2 was screened at Berlin, Germany, this weekend. The screening, organised by Nepali Culture Family Berlin, saw the presence of Nepali ambassador for Germany, Ramesh Prasad Khanal and Member of Parliament Jitendra Dev as chief guests.
The movie was also screened at a separate event in Barcelona, Spain, on Sunday.
Directed by Nischal Basnet, Loot 2, despite mixed reviews, roared at the box office, collecting a total of 56 million on its opening five days. The film is a sequel to the 2012’s blockbuster Loot, which at the time was the highest grossing Nepali movie.
Speaking about the screening, ambassador Khanal said, “The programme was great and I really enjoyed the movie. This kind of programme helps to promote our movies, culture and traditions abroad.” Khanal also hailed the organisers and thanked them for their effort to promote Nepali culture in Berlin.
Similarly, one of the organisers, Ravi Dungana, said, “Through this event, we wanted to bring together Nepalis who live here and hence promote our culture and movies.” He added, “We are really thankful to all the people who attended it and made it successful.” The screening was attended by more than a 100 members of the German Nepali diaspora.
Along with the screening of the movie, the event also featured Nepali dance, live music, and a poetry recital.
