The Madan Puraskar Guthi has announced the shortlist of the seven books up for the prestigious literary award for the year 2015-2016.

The short-listed books for this year’s edition of the award are: Ammoi by Bhuwan Hari Sigdel; Aaina by Ram Lal Joshi; Chirharan by Nilam Karki Niharika; Nirwaan by Ghana Shyam Khadka; Prashnaharu ko Karkhana by Sarita Tiwari; Firfire by Buddhisagar; and Simana ka Rang Simana ka Taranga by Damodar Pudasaini ‘Kishor’.

Madan Puraskar is the foremost literary honour  conferred to books published in the Nepali language every calendar year. Each year the Guthi presents the illustrious award to one outstanding book

along with a cash purse of Rs 200, 000. Some of Madan Puraskar’s past recipients include authors such as Satya Mohan Joshi, Gopal Prasad Rimal, Parijat, and Shankar Lamichhane, among others.

Bijay Kumar Pandey won the award for his book Khusi in the preceding year. Along with the award, the Guthi also hands out the Jagadamba Shree Puraskar to a literary figure for their lifetime contribution in the field of Nepali literature.
