Dhakal honoured in Dhaka
Eminent Nepali vocalist Ramakrishna Dhakal was presented with the South Asian Music Award at the Second South Asian Music Festival in Dhaka on March 20.The award was handed over to the singer by Chief Guest Dr Gowher Rizvi, the international affairs advisor to the prime minister of Bangladesh. On the occasion, Dhakal performed his popular numbers to thunderous applause from the audience, who had gathered for the festival at the Shishu Academy in Shahbag, Dhaka.
In addition to Dhakal, several Bangladeshi and Indian artists performed their renditions of spiritual and devotional music. The event was attended by music enthusiasts as well as many Nepali students studying in Dhaka. Several important dignitaries, including Advocate Fazilatunnesa Bappy, also a member of parliament, famous Bangladeshi singer Fakir Alamgir and the Director of the Gandhian Institute of Studies in Varanasi, India, Deepak Malik, were present at the show.
