From one heart to another
Valentine’s Day is all about the expression and celebration of the most beautiful and magical of feelings: love.

Love, however, comes in a myriad shapes and forms. There is no one way of celebrating Valentine’s Day, and this is exactly what Friday’s event at Hotel de l’Annapurna was all about. The Jayanti Memorial Trust (JMT) organised a very special night to raise funds for heart patients from all around Nepal. From One Heart to Another, Egyptian Night was a lot more than a Valentine’s Day party. Its primary objective was to highlight the importance of taking better care of the human heart, but it was also not your average awareness event. It was a fun-filled, fulfilling programme, featuring great Egyptian cuisine, complete with dazzling belly dance routines and spectacular music by an Egyptian band.
Organised in collaboration with Annapurna and Qatar Airway’s JMT’s Valentine’s Day event was hence also a celebration of Egyptian culture in many ways. Moustafa Gendy, Egyptian ambassador to Nepal, presided over the evening as chief guest while numerous other distinguished personalities could also be seen enjoying the proceedings.
The main aim of the event though, as JMT—an organisation that has been dedicated to helping economically-challenged patients of cardiac diseases since the early 2000s—has stated time and again, was to raise funds to support heart patients. Event partners Qatar Airways handed over a cheque worth Rs 250,000 to JMT at the event, pledging their support to the latter’s noble cause. In addition, Everst Bank and Pepsi Nepal handed over cheques worth Rs 100,000 each to the organisation.
Host Hotel de l’ Annapurna, which has supported many a notable cause over the past years, was decked out in all its glory for Egyptian Night. With great food, wonderful music and an amazing crowd, the Valentine’s Day celebration was as beautiful as any other event organised to commemorate love and celebrate the spirit of giving. JMT and fellow organisers certainly drove home the point that love can be shown, expressed and celebrated in the most unique ways. It was a Valentine’s Day not just for couples or families or friends, it was an opportunity to give and share, and rejoice in the expression of a special kind of love.
