It’s that time of year again, when beauties from all over the country converge in the Capital to compete for the glittering honour that is the Miss Nepal crown. The Hidden Treasure, the official organisers, have revealed that the 19th edition of the event will be held on May 3 this year, at the Nepal Academy Hall in Kamaladi, with Fanta partnering with the pageant for the second consecutive year. The announcement was made at a press meet held at the Radisson Hotel in Lazimpat on Wednesday. 

What sets apart Fanta The Hidden Treasure Miss Nepal - 2014 from its predecessors is the inclusion in the event of the winners of regional beauty pageants, such as Miss Chitwan, Miss Pokhara, and Miss Purbanchal. Ladies from these three regions will get the opportunity, for the first time in Miss Nepal history, to participate in the nationwide contest.

Miss Nepal World 2013 Ishani Shrestha was present at the press meet, where she offered advice to those interested in participating in the upcoming event, encouraging them to demonstrate strong leadership and guidance skills to move the country in a positive direction. 

Candidates will be chosen through interviews and auditions, and the 20-25 girls who are short-listed will then undergo an intensive five to six week training session, conducted by experts at the International Club in Sanepa. The themes of ecological conservation and violence against women will form a significant part of these workshops. 

This year’s winner will receive Rs 100,000 in cash, while the first and second runners-up will be given cash prizes worth Rs 60,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively. The top three will also receive other goodies besides. The sub-titles up for grabs this year include Miss Talent, Miss Personality, Shree Ganapati Miss Photogenic, Sulux Miss Best Smile, 

Miss Athletic, Hyundai-Laxmi Miss Friendship, Honda-Dio Miss Stylish (to be chosen via Facebook voting) and Republica presents Fanta Miss Bubbly Popular Choice (through SMS voting)—all of whom will receive Rs 15,000 each.
