‘Resources In Chaos’ at Nepal Art Council
Upcoming exhibit in Kathmandu honours American artist Rick Cummings’s works.Post Report
In tribute to the legacy of American artist Rick Cummings, Nepal Art Council is hosting an exhibition of his works from February 7 to 13. The exhibit will be inaugurated on Saturday at 4:30 pm by Cultural Heritage Conservationist Rabindra Puri.
Cummings (1949–2025) was an American artist whose nearly five-decade career centred on the motto ‘Resources in Chaos’. Cummings made Nepal his home in 2011, where he lived and worked until his recent passing after a battle with cancer.
“I hope that visitors will appreciate his works, and will support the unique initiative to perpetuate his memory and to highlight his message,” says François-Xavier Léger, former French ambassador to Nepal (2018-2021).
Curated by Rahul Maharjan, the exhibition will not only celebrate creativity through Rick’s art but also take a meaningful step toward understanding cancer beyond its medical dimensions. Additionally, Cummings’ artworks of Kathmandu’s stray dogs will be presented, reflecting the impacts of negligence on their support. Interactive sessions with short videos and presentations on several topics will be held in the exhibition.
Entry is free.
