Post Report
Two Australian documentaries—‘The Strez’ and ‘Fly From Everest’—will be screened today at QFX Rising Mall in Kathmandu. The screening is part of a tri-country exchange programme between India, Nepal, and Australia, organised by Beyond Borders, an Indian education management company, in collaboration with the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
Joe Carter, director of both films, is currently in Kathmandu with 12 film students from QUT. The students are visiting Nepal on scholarships supported by the Australian Government.
According to Shanti Mukhiya, assistant programme manager at Beyond Borders, approximately 70 guests, including dignitaries and members of Nepal’s film industry, will attend the event.
‘The Strez’ documents a motorcycle journey across Australia’s remote Strzelecki Track and explores themes of family and endurance. The film received the Best Adventure Film award at the New York Film Festival and has been featured in several international festivals.
The second documentary, ‘Fly From Everest,’ tells the story of Ken Hutt, who attempted to paraglide from Mt Everest to raise awareness for the global End Polio Now campaign. The film highlights the technical challenges and broader public health message behind the mission.
The screening is scheduled from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Following the screening, Director Carter will participate in a Q&A session to discuss the films and the broader collaboration between Australia and Nepal through educational and creative initiatives.
