Shailee Theatre announces 14th National Children Theatre Festival
This year’s festival will be held in person, the first time in two years.Post Report
For the past 13 years, Shailee Theatre has been organising the National Children Theatre Festival annually, making it a mainstay in the country’s theatre landscape.
Because of the Covid pandemic, the 10-day festival was organised virtually in 2021 and 2022. But with Covid no longer a serious public health emergency, Shailee Theatre has announced that its 14th National Children Theatre Festival 2023 will be in-person.
“We want to continue our mission of encouraging young artists by inviting them and their adults back on stage, in person,” said a representative from the festival.
According to the festival’s organisers, interested candidates can submit their plays’ scripts for two categories—‘competitive’ and ‘non-competitive’.
“Drama scripts must be related to children or adolescents. There are no age restrictions on actors as long as the content has children/adolescent themes,” added the festival’s representative.
Winning scripts get to showcase their drama during the festival, and a panel of experienced judges from Nepal’s theatre fraternity will choose the winners for the ‘competitive’ category.
