The NRA Directive Committee’s first meeting took the decision to form a central office, six sub-regional offices for reconstruction works in 14 quake-stricken districts and a single sub-regional office for the remainder of the districts affected by the earthquake.
According to an evaluative report created in the aftermath of the earthquake, a total of 31 districts were affected during the earthquake. The meeting also took the decision to start the mega campaign of reconstruction from January 16.
The campaign will be inaugurated by the President from Ranipokhari in Kathmandu and by the Prime Minister in Bungamati of Lalitpur district, said NRA Acting Secretary Madhu Sudan Adhikari.
The Committee has also approved Rs 290 million for administrative expenditure in the expanded organisational structure, he said, adding that preparations were underway for approval of policy and programmes in the next meeting.
The meeting presided by PM KP Sharma Oli was attended by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Home Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel, Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi and NRA Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyawali.
