PUMA has been on a tear when it comes to summer-ready drops. Just last summer, during the month of June, they revealed the ‘Space Explorer’ pack, RS-X Sneaker Raver, RS-X Ushuaïa, and LQD CELL Optic—and collaborated with RHUDE and Chinatown Market. With no intention of slowing down, PUMA now presents its limited edition ‘Scuderia Ferrari Kart Cat X’. Bold with a gritty aesthetic, Puma’s new sneakers are all about comfort and 90’s style.

Technology touch

Extending its collection on LQD Cell technology, these futuristic kicks are a new addition to Scuderia Ferrari collection for the new season. LQD Cell technology is an evolution of PUMA’s signature CELL technology, which first debuted in the 90s, and was relaunched in the fall of 2018. The new Scuderia Ferrari Kart Cat X has the aesthetic of a streetwear sneaker with the built-in technology of a performance shoe—what PUMA deems to be the perfect hybrid fashion and technology.

The key features of PUMA’s new LQD Cell technology include soft yet sturdy hexagonal cells that compress and work together with ProFoam to keep you steady while you work out, smaller cells than the original CELL technology that are arranged in a new configuration to further maximise shock absorption, designed to enhance performance and comfort through stable cushioning.

Another exciting feature of this pair is the midsole lockdown technology—the laces have been stretched which coupled with ProFoam gives you a steady grip.

Design aesthetics

Available in a bold mixture of white, red and black, Scuderia Ferrari Kart Cat X stays true to the flagship of Ferrari. Its rubber outsole with integrated LQD Cell element provides better comfort and makes it a new option for the hardcore motorsport fans. The SF pin on the lateral finishes this genuine motorsport look. The outer material is all mesh and soft leather.

The advanced design also compliments the stable cushioning PUMA is going for. The final shield on the sneaker gives a very retro look, for a contemporary version that is even more robust, solid and comfortable thanks to the EVA midsole. EVA midsoles are the most common cushioning materials in modern sport’s shoes.
