KMC employees receive salaries after three-month delay
Salary payments processed after Chief Administrative Officer Guragain resumes duty.
Post Report
Employees of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) received their salaries on Monday after a three-month delay.
Dhruva Kumar Kafle, assistant spokesperson for KMC, said that salary payments were processed at around 1pm, stating, “All employees entitled to receive salaries from the metropolis were paid.”
The delay was resolved after Saroj Guragain assumed the role of chief administrative officer on Thursday. Guragain was suspended by Mayor Balendra Shah on December 23 accusing him of being involved in financial irregularities while giving approval of the Kathmandu Tower construction blueprint at Old Bus Park, Ratnapark.
KMC employees and elected representatives had not received their salaries for three months due to the absence of the chief executive officer, who holds the financial authority.
