The Shuklaphanta National Park, in collaboration with non-profit Bird Conservation Nepal and researchers, has started counting Finn’s weaver—a bird species listed on the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
The bird, locally called Sunaulo Top Chara, is found only in the Shuklaphanta National Park.
The population of Finn’s weaver has been declining in the country over the past few years.
Last year’s count had put its number at 221. Finn’s weaver is reknowned for its ability to make attractive nests.
