The Gamgadhi-Sorukot road that was blocked by landslides at several places two weeks ago has yet to reopen.
According to Keshar Bahadur Shahi, deputy chairman of Soru Rural Municipality, the Gamgadhi-Sorukot section is the only road link connecting the rural municipality with the district headquarters.
More than two dozen trucks carrying daily consumables and other essential goods are stuck due to the landslides in the Phuli, Sip, and Aakhidhara sections of the road. Shortages of rice, oil, and salt, among other things, have also started in the rural municipality.
Due to the continued rainfall, no efforts are currently being made to clear the landslide, said Shahi.
