The vote counting that was stalled in Bajura following a dispute resumed on Friday afternoon.
According to the district’s Chief Election Officer Nawaraj Awasthi, the counting started after the parties agreed to resume counting by accepting that a mistake was made while entering data on a computer.
The vote counting for the first-past-the-post seat at the Dhim polling station in Himali Rural Municipality-6 had stalled after the polling officer found that there were 40 votes more than documented.
As per the latest update, Nepali Congress candidate Bhadri Prasad Pandey is leading with 5,419 votes. Pandey’s closest rival Karna Bahadur Thapa of the CPN-UML is trailing by 1,290 votes. Thapa has received 4,129 votes so far.
