Floodwaters from Budhi Ganga river entered settlements near the riverbanks in Bajura district on Sunday night destroying houses and bridges.
One person has gone missing when a house was swept away by the flood at Badimalika Municipality Ward No. 2, Ghanghar Tole, said police.
“A 65-year-old woman was swept away along with her house by the flood on Sunday night,” said Mayor Padam Bahadur Baduwal. “The flooded river swept away a bailey bridge at Jadanga as well.”
According to locals, suspension bridges at several other places have also been swept away by the floodwaters in the river.
The details of the incident are yet to come, according to the District Police Office, Bajura.
