The windstorm, which hit the district for about two hours starting from around 7 pm last night, has left a trail of destruction along its way with thatched houses feeling the brunt of the disaster. However, a detailed report on the extent of damages caused by the storm is yet to be known.

According to the locals, the storm-ravaged through the freed-Kamaiya settlement near the old airport in Dhangadi and completely destroyed their shelters.

Likewise, electricity poles have also been uprooted in the storm-hit areas which have caused in the disruption of electricity in various parts of the district, while uprooted trees have obstructed vehicular movement at various road sections. Police informed that they rescued passengers of a microbus that was crushed by a tree that fell during the storm at Dhunge Bazar in Dhangadi. The injured were rushed to a nearby medical facility.
