NSJF Pulsar Sports Award to be held in Pokhara on January 7

The 22nd edition of the NSJF Pulsar Sports Award, which was postponed due to the Gen Z uprising, will now be held on January 7 in Pokhara.
The organisers, Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF), announced the new date during a press conference held on Sunday. The awards ceremony was originally scheduled for September 14 but was postponed at the last minute following disruptions caused by the Gen Z movement on September 8 and 9.
NSJF President Niranjan Adhikari also announced that Yeti Airlines has joined the event as a new sponsor. As part of the partnership, Yeti Airlines will provide services to nominated athletes, coaches, and invited guests attending the awards.
Meanwhile, the digital voting process for the People’s Choice Award, a key category of the event, was reopened on Sunday. NSJF General Secretary Anjan Khadka said that voting will resume from the point where it was previously halted.
“The votes already received before the postponement will remain valid, and voting will continue from there,” Khadka said.
The nominees for the People’s Choice Award are Bijay Sinjali (wushu), Puja Mahato (cricket), Himal Sunari (volleyball), Rekha Poudel (football) and Evana Thapa (table tennis).
Sports Summit in Pokhara
The awards ceremony will take place at Pokhara City Hall, while the NSJF Sports Summit will be organised in the lake city a day earlier, on January 6.
According to Adhikari, the summit aims to make the awards more dynamic, with discussions focusing on Pokhara’s tourism potential and the sports economy.
Cooperation with Golchha Group, as per the main sponsorship agreement, will continue. Pokhara Metropolitan City has also joined as a partner, with a formal agreement already signed with Mayor Dhanraj Acharya.
All other aspects of the awards remain unchanged, and NSJF has also partnered with several new organisations.
Other partners include Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd, IME Khalti Digital Wallet as the digital voting partner, Kelme Nepal, National Sports Council, Nepal Olympic Committee, Bagmati Province Sports Development Council, Nepal Tourism Board, and IME Hospitality.
Winners in five categories—Male Athlete, Female Athlete, Youth Athlete, Coach, and People’s Choice—will each receive a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle, while winners in the remaining categories will receive Rs100,000 each.
