Sadbhav, Jaibir and Tandan win Faldo junior tour golf titles

Sadbhav Acharya, Jaibir Acharya and Aaiesteena Tandan won the titles of the Faldo Junior Tour Nepal Championship at the par-68 Royal Nepal Golf Club on Friday. The three winners earned berths to the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final to be held in Vietnam and Spain.
Nepal number one amateur golfer Sadbhav won the boys’ 17-21 age-group category title along with the overall title. He carded one-under 67 in the third and final round for the 54-hole total score of 1-under 203 to record a 31-stroke victory over Pokhara’s Sansar BK, who played 13-over 81 in the final round for the total score of 30-over 234.
Swapnil Bhattarai came third at 33-over 237 after playing 10-over 78.
Sadbhav, who was 17 strokes ahead of Sansar after the second round, played even-par 34 on the front nine and he carded 1-under 33 on the back nine. He carded birdies on the first and fourth holes and he dropped shots on the third and sixth holes. He carded birdies on the 10th, 11th and 14th holes before facing a double bogey on the 17th hole. BK played 9-over 43 on the front nine and played 4-over 38 on the back nine.
Jaibir won the boys’ 12-16 age-group category title with the score of 49-over 253.
Jaibir, who was nine strokes behind leader Siddhanta Sapkota going into the final round, played 5-over 73 in the third round. He registered a four-stroke victory over Soham Agrawal.
Jaibir took the turn at even-par 34 and played 5-over 39 on the back nine.
Agrawal played 12-over 80 in the third round for a total score of 53-over 257.
Overnight leader Sapkota finished third at 259 after he played 20-over 88.
In the girls’ section, Aaiesteena recorded a one-stroke victory over Avanie Rai.
Aaiesteena played 21-over 89 in the third round for the 54-hole total of 60-over 264.
Rai finished second at 61-over 265 after she played 15-over 83. Anvadya Malla finished third in the category.
A total of 31 players from Kathmandu, Pokhara, Dharan and Chitwan took part in the 54-hole tournament organised by Nepal Golf Association.
National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising, President of Nepal Golf Association Tashi Ghale and RNGC President Madhukar Yakthumba handed over prizes to the winners.
