The annual Pulsar Sports Award scheduled for February 11 in Kathmandu will take place at Hotel Yak and Yeti, the organisers Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) announced on Friday.
Issuing a press statement NSJF, the umbrella organisation of sports journalists throughout the country, said that they have roped in Hotel Yak and Yeti as hospitality partner for the 20th edition of the award ceremony.
NSJF chief Durga Nath Subedi (Devendra) and Yak and Yeti General Manager Monika Scheiblauer signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to the effect.
Scheiblauer said that the company was proud to be associated with the prestigious award function which has been honouring sports personalities for nearly two decades. Subedi said: “We had been organising the event amid a big number of spectators in the past. But this year we have shifted the venue to the five star hotel to organise the event in a different way. We are hopeful that the change will be fruitful in the growth of the event.”
NSJF will award players and sportspersons in eight different categories at the award ceremony on the basis of their performance in the past Nepali calendar year (2079 BS). The categories include male, female, coach and youth player of the year, peoples’ choice award, lifetime achievement award, para athlete honour and special award.
NSJF has already unveiled the five nominees for the peoples’ choice award which will be decided through eSewa votes, Facebook likes and points given by NSJF members and chief coaches of sports associations.
The nominees for the player of the year male, female, youth, and coach will be announced in a few days, according to NSJF. There won't be nominations in other categories—para athlete, special and lifetime achievement awards. The winners will be directly revealed during the award ceremony.
The winners of five categories—male, female, youth, coach and peoples’ choice award—will be rewarded Pulsar motorbikes while the winners of other categories will get a purse of Rs50,000 each.
