Sonnet made 103-7 in the match reduced to 15-over-a-side due to technical reasons. Army had a decent start but their middle order failed to make the most of it before getting restricted to 99-7.
Sagar Pun did most of the scoring in his 39-run partnership for the first wicket with Naresh Budhayer. But once Anmol Pandey removed Pun, TAC lost their way. Pun hit three fours and a six in 13-ball 23, while Budhayer top scored with a 31-ball 30 that included two sixes and a four. Bikram Sob slammed 16 off just six balls but couldn’t take the team across the finish line.
Man-of-the-match Shivam Dixit and Aadesh Kumar took two wickets each for Sonnet. The visitors had Dixit to thank for as the middle order batsman had bailed out the team from 29-4 adding 66 runs for the fifth wicket with Rishav Rai (24). Dixit struck four boundaries and two sixes in his 25-ball 43.
APF were crushed by nine wickets by Army in their first Group ‘B’ match on Monday but they bounced back with six-wicket win over Birat Cricket Society in another game. Irshad Ahmed and Bhuwan Karki took three wickets each as Birat were restricted for 117-9. Sandeep Jora then starred with an unbeaten half century as APF reached 121-4 in 18 overs.
