Nepal lose 5-0 to Kuwait, crash out
Nepal crashed out from the league stage of the 17th Asian Games football after suffering a 5-0 drubbing from Kuwait in Incheon, South Korea, on Wednesday.Pitted in Group ‘D’ Nepal next play Japan in their last match on Friday but the match will hold no significance as pointless Nepal are at the bottom of the four-team group. Nepal had opened the tournament with a 4-0 defeat against Iraq. Nepal, ranked 166th in the Fifa world rankings, managed to contain a team 55 places above them in the first half despite conceding an early 18th minute goal.
Kuwait, however, upped the tempo in the second half with Alsena Sami completing a hat-trick. Fahad Alhamadan opened the scoring for Kuwait in a corner move. Sami made it 2-0 in the 65th minute before converting a penalty in the 73rd after Sandip Rai tripped a Kuwait player in the area.
Alzami Faisal made it 4-0 in the 81st minute before Sami completed his hat-trick two minutes later.
