Buddha Air has announced it will resume flights between tourist hotspots Bharatpur and Pokhara from September 15 after a gap of three years.

The carrier said it was flying between the two points to facilitate tourist movement, prompted by requests from tourism entrepreneurs.

“We have initiated the move as per the request of tourism entrepreneurs,” said Bhakta Bahadur Basnet, manager of Buddha Air’s Bharatpur branch.

“The service is expected to be a big help to visitors and promote tourism.”

Vehicular movement on the Narayangadh-Mugling highway has been

disrupted due to expansion work on the, making it difficult for travellers to reach the popular jungle safari destination.

Buddha will operate its 19-seater Beechcraft aircraft on the route.

The airfare for domestic passengers has been fixed at Rs3,650 while foreigners will be charged $92 per person.

In September 2014, Yeti Airlines had started a weekly flight between Pokhara and Bharatpur, but it was discontinued due to lack of adequate passengers.
