Two killed in motorcycle crash in Rupandehi
Motorcycle hits stationary Indian truck on Bhairahawa–Parasi road.Post Report
Two people were killed when a motorcycle crashed into a stationary truck in Rupandehi on Monday morning.
The accident occurred at Parasi Jhuwa in ward 3 of Rohini Rural Municipality along the Bhairahawa–Parasi road section, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Suraj Karki, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Rupandehi.
The deceased have been identified as 21-year-old Raju Harijan of ward 3 of Omsatiya Rural Municipality and 23-year-old Rohit Yadav of the same locality. The motorcycle was heading towards Bhairahawa from Parasi when it rammed into a parked Indian truck at around 6am.
Both riders sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Universal College of Medical Sciences in Bhairahawa, where they died during treatment, Karki said. Police have taken the truck and its driver into custody and said further investigation is underway.
In a separate incident, the body of an unidentified woman was found partially submerged in water in ward 3 of Siddharthanagar Municipality on Monday morning.
Residents spotted the body of a woman, estimated to be in her 60s, in stagnant water collected on a plot owned by Narayan Singh Thapa at around 8:15am, said Karki.
The woman’s identity has not yet been established. Police said a specialist team from the District Police Office, Rupandehi, has been deployed to determine the cause of death and ascertain her identity.
