A 59-year-old man was killed, and two women were injured when a leopard attacked villagers in ward 11 of Barbardiya Municipality on Friday, officials said.
Gopi Tharu died while cutting grass in the Kala Belbhar Community Forest, Senior Forest Officer Gopal Chaudhary of the Division Forest Office, Bardiya, said.
The two women, Indira and Manisha Dahit, were injured while fleeing and are receiving treatment at the municipal hospital, Police Inspector Prakash Singh Thakuri of the District Police Office, Bardiya said.
Authorities have deployed police and forest officials with a cage to capture the leopard, Chaudhary said.
