Police arrested a teenager in Bardiya eight months after he was convicted in a rape case.
According to Police Inspector Kamal Prasad Chaudhary, a 17-year-old was taken into police custody from Bansgadhi Municipality and presented at the Baridya District Court on Friday.
On June 18, 2023, the Tulsipur High Court had found the teenager guilty of raping a minor girl from the same municipality and handed a sentence of 13 years. The convict was also ordered to pay compensation worth Rs50,000 and slapped a fine of Rs5,000.
The district court has sent the convict to the Child Rehabilitation Centre in Nepalgunj.
