Police have arrested three youths in possession of marijuana on Tuesday.

The Birgunj unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau of Nepal Police and the District Police Office, Bara recovered packets of food items containing 1.146 kgs of marijuana.

Sisauwari residents Naimodin Miya, 22, Krishna Sharaf, 22, and Jitendra Sah, 27, were taken into custody for being in possession of the banned substance, police said.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dadhiram Neupane, also the spokesperson for the district police office, the three youths were arrested from the Kalaiya Sub Metropolitan post office.

The contraband was allegedly smuggled from the US, police said.

A case has been filed against the accused on charge of drug offence. Their judicial custody has been extended by five days, and further investigation into the matter is underway, Neupane added.
