An unidentified male body was found in a sugarcane field in Bijayabasti, in ward 4 of Thori Rural Municipality, on Monday. 

According to Police Inspector Santosh Rai, chief of the area police office, the man was of around 35 to 40 years. 

The field is near the Nepal-India border. Efforts are being made to ascertain the identity of the deceased. 

The body has been sent to Birgunj-based Narayani Hospital for post-mortem, said Rai.
