Udayapur

Triyuga Municipality in Udayapur demolished nine illegally built houses near the Triyuga Bus Park in ward 3 on Thursday. Despite a prior notice issued on Wednesday, residents had defied the order, prompting authorities to use a bulldozer.

The structures, built on public land by the Triyuga River, obstructed the ongoing expansion of the bus park. Mayor Basanta Basnet said genuine squatters have been relocated and provided land nearby.

Deputy Mayor Maheshwari Rai said the move aligns with the municipality’s policy to protect public land. Minor clashes occurred between municipal police and locals during the demolition, but the operation proceeded as planned.
