The government has decided to resend the ordinance related to the Constitutional Council to President Ramchandra Paudel for authentication after it was returned for reconsideration.
A Cabinet meeting held on Monday took the decision to forward the ordinance again, according to government spokesperson and Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel.
The government has resubmitted the ordinance without making any changes.
On Sunday, President Paudel returned the ordinance, asking the government to reconsider it instead of granting authentication. His legal adviser, Baburam Kunwar, said the decision followed a review of the provisions included in the proposal sent by the Cabinet.
The ordinance was recommended during the Cabinet meeting of April 27, alongside other ordinances, and sent to the President for approval.
Officials at the President’s Office said the head of state exercised constitutional authority to seek further deliberation on the proposal.
This is not the first such instance. A similar ordinance recommended by a previous government led by Sushila Karki was also returned by the President’s Office in the past.
