Rabindra Mishra, senior vice-chair of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), announced his resignation from all party responsibilities on Saturday after losing the parliamentary election from Kathmandu-1.
In a social media post, he said he was taking a temporary leave from party politics, stressing that the decision was carefully considered and not taken out of frustration or haste.
Mishra cited repeated failures by the party to consolidate public support for monarchy restoration and structural reforms despite widespread popular backing. He said he would continue to advocate for monarchy restoration, good governance, and related issues as an independent politician.
Reflecting on his nine-year political journey, Mishra expressed gratitude to colleagues and supporters both in Nepal and abroad. He also congratulated the Rastriya Swatantra Party for its electoral success.
