The crossparty taskforce of the ruling coalition has submitted a draft of the common minimum programme (CMP), which is considered a guideline to run the coalition government, to the top leaders of the ruling parties.
“We have drafted the common minimum programme and submitted it to the top leaders,” CPN-UML Vice Chairman Bishnu Paudel said.
Leaders involved in drafting the document said it has emphasised on safeguarding the constitution, giving momentum to economic development and prosperity and resolving the crises faced by the country’s economy, among other major issues of the day.
They said the programme also stresses instilling hope and trust in the people, protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
The guiding document also focuses on ensuring economic growth, social justice, good governance, digital economy and smart governance by ensuring service delivery through online and digital platforms.
The CMP outlines strategies to steer the country towards socialism and suggests steps on how to improve the country’s economic condition, said Paudel. “The top leadership will revise the draft, if necessary,” he added.
Rajendra Shrestha of the Janata Samajbadi Party said that the panel has advised the government to focus on the modernisation of the agricultural sector, digitisation of the economy and service delivery, among others.
A taskforce comprising Paudel and Bishnu Rimal from the CPN-UML, Barshaman Pun and Janardan Sharma from the CPN (Maoist Centre), Swarnim Wagle and Mukul Dhakal from Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rajendra Shrestha and Manish Suman from Janata Samjbadi Party and Pramesh Hamal and Ghanashyam Bhusal form the CPN (Unified Socialist) were involved in drafting the document.
