Nepali Congress candidate Dambar Bahadur Khadka from Ilam Constituency 2 has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court on Thursday demanding a recount of votes in the constituency.
Khadka stated in the petition that he was defeated in the election due to fraud. CPN (UML) candidate Subas Chandra Nembang was forcibly declared the winner, said Khadka.
According to the final results announced by the Election Commission, Nembang won by a short margin of 114 votes. While Nembang got 30,020 votes, Khadka received 29,906 votes.
Khadka has alleged that his representative was not involved while bringing the ballot boxes from the polling station to the counting station. He also alleged that the counted ballot papers were kept unsealed at the polling station.
