The government has declared flood- and landslide-affected areas in Gorkha, Dhading and Baglung districts disaster zones for three months.
A Cabinet meeting on Friday designated Chumnubri, Dharche and Aarughat rural municipalities in Gorkha, Wards 1 and 2 of Tripurasundari Rural Municipality in Dhading, and Galkot and Dhorpatan municipalities in Baglung as disaster-hit areas.
The decision also provides temporary housing and livelihood assistance to families whose homes were damaged in the disaster. Families that choose to arrange temporary accommodation privately rather than stay in holding centres will receive support until alternative housing is available, for a maximum of six months.
Families with up to four members will receive Rs15,000 per month, while those with more than four members will receive an additional Rs2,000 per month for each additional member.
