A magnitude 5 earthquake struck Rukum East on Sunday afternoon, according to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre.
The earthquake occurred at around 4:30 pm, with its epicentre located near Kol area of Rukum East, the centre said.
The tremor was felt in surrounding districts and parts of the Kathmandu Valley, according to Kantipur correspondents.
No reports of damage or casualties were immediately available.
