Government forms panel to pick SEBON head

The government has formed a three-member recommendation committee led by the vice-chair of the National Planning Commission (NPC) to select the new chairperson of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON).
A Cabinet meeting on Tuesday decided to constitute the committee under NPC vice-chair Gunakar Bhatta to recommend candidates for the vacant post at the securities regulator. Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyaya and Bhuvan Dahal have been named as members.
The position fell vacant after SEBON Chair Santosh Narayan Shrestha resigned on April 17.
In a separate decision, the government appointed Dilliraj Acharya as chairperson of the Office of the Problematic Cooperative Management Committee. Navaraj Simkhada and Roshan Shakya have been appointed as members.
The Cabinet also approved the tabling of an ordinance related to the March 5 elections as a bill in the House of Representatives.
Additionally, the government endorsed the introduction of bills to amend the Nepal Special Service Act, the House of Representatives Election Act and the Electoral Roll Act in the lower house.
