Two dead in Lamjung jeep accident
A passenger jeep heading from Besisahar to Chhinkhola plunged 40–50 metres off a winding uphill road on Saturday afternoon, police say.Aash Gurung
Two people died and 12 others were injured when a Bolero jeep met with an accident below Ustabesi in Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-7 of Lamjung on Saturday afternoon.
According to police, the passenger jeep, en route from Besisahar to Chhinkhola in Marsyangdi-7, veered off the road and plunged approximately 40–50 metres down a steep bend at around 4:30 pm.
The deceased have been identified as 40-year-old Tribeni Ghale and 35-year-old Pushpa Ghale of Usta, Marsyangdi-7. They were pronounced dead by doctors while undergoing treatment at Lamjung Provincial Hospital in Besisahar.
Inspector Gyanendra Bahadur Chhetri of the District Police Office, Lamjung, said that among the injured, 40-year-old Bimala Devi Ghale, 33-year-old Rita Gurung, and seven-year-old Saphal Gurung, all from Usta, have been referred to Chitwan Medical College for further treatment.
Of the remaining injured, the condition of 62-year-old Santa Bahadur Gharti, 29-year-old driver Karan Adhikari, 48-year-old Rudraman Ghale, 10-year-old Prishika Gurung, and 38-year-old Somlal Tamang is reported to be moderate.
Meanwhile, Prakash Gurung, 31, Biman Ghale, 14, Indra Ghale, 9, and Ritesh Gurung, 11, are in stable condition, according to police.
The injured are undergoing treatment at Lamjung Provincial Hospital in Besisahar. Police said further investigation into the accident is underway.
