Newly elected lawmakers of the House of Representatives took the oath of office and secrecy at the multipurpose hall of the newly constructed Parliament building in Singha Durbar on Thursday.
Arjun Narsingh KC, the senior-most lawmaker in the House, administered the oath. Lawmakers attended the ceremony wearing attire reflecting their respective cultures.
In the absence of an elected Speaker, legal provisions require the eldest member of Parliament to administer the oath.
Before the ceremony, Federal Parliament Secretary-General Padma Prasad Pandey welcomed the newly elected members.
