In Kathmandu Constituency No. 1, Ranju Darshana Neupane of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) secured victory with more than double the votes of her nearest rival. She received 15,455 votes, while her closest competitor, Prabal Thapa of the Nepali Congress, obtained 6,364 votes.
Rabindra Mishra of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) received 3,972 votes.
Out of 48,489 registered voters in the constituency, approximately 28,000 cast their ballots. To retain their security deposit, candidates needed at least 10 percent of the total valid votes—roughly 2,800 votes.
As a result, 26 candidates, including the CPN-UML nominee, are set to forfeit their deposits.
CPN-UML candidate Mohan Raj Regmi received 1,618 votes. He, along with many other candidates below the threshold, will lose their deposits.
Others facing forfeiture include Mohan Raj Regmi of the Ujyaalo Nepal Party, Samir Tamang Lama of the Shram Sanskriti Party, and Menuka Bhandari of the Nepali Communist Party.
Arjun Bahadur Shahi, a candidate from the Nepal Janasewa Party, secured the fewest votes, receiving none, whereas Raju Bhujel, Shanti Shrestha, and Sangit Bam each received one vote. Raj Kumar Limbu, Kamal Subedi, Kiran Shah, and Ramesh Prasad Joshi received two votes each.
Under the prevalent election law, any candidate failing to secure 10 percent of the total valid votes cast automatically forfeits their deposit.
