Former prime minister and Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba departed for Singapore on Wednesday night for a routine health check-up, according to sources close to him.
Deuba flew out from Tribhuvan International Airport along with his nephew and two others. A source said he travelled on Singapore Airlines flight SQ442 at around midnight.
“He has gone to Singapore for a regular health check-up and has said he will return soon after completing the treatment,” the source said. The source added that Deuba left for further medical consultation after experiencing some health issues, but is expected to return to Kathmandu before polling day on March 5.
Previously, on September 9, Deuba was assaulted at his residence. He, along with his wife Arzu Rana Deuba, had travelled to Singapore for further treatment on October 27.
While most Congress leaders have returned to the campaign trail for the March 5 elections, Deuba, along with some of his close associates, has yet to appear publicly in the ongoing election campaign.
