Hearing for Supreme Court justices nominees on Sunday
Parliamentary panel sets date after reviewing complaints against all three candidates.
Post Report
The Parliamentary Hearing Committee will conduct a hearing on Sunday for three Supreme Court nominees, following a meeting on Friday to determine the schedule.
The Judicial Council recommended Meghraj Pokharel, Shreekanta Paudel, and Shanti Singh Thapa for appointment as justices in the top court.
The committee set the hearing date after discussing complaints against the nominees with individuals.
Two complaints were filed against Pokharel and Paudel each, while Thapa faced one complaint. The committee also held interactions with the complainants before fixing the hearing date.
Article 292 of the constitution requires the chief justice, justices, and those nominated to constitutional commissions and ambassadorial posts to pass parliamentary hearings before they take the oath of office.
