Supreme Court stays Pathibhara cable car construction
The apex court issued a short-term interim order in favour of the petitioners.
Post Report
The Supreme Court has issued an order to temporarily halt all the construction work on the Pathibhara Cable Car project in Taplejung. The court’s decision follows a petition filed by Yam Bahadur Limbu and others against the Pathibhara Darshan Cable Car Company.
The court, led by Justice Sharanga Subedi, has directed that the project remain in its current state until further notice. The court issued a short-term interim order in favour of the petitioners and has scheduled a hearing for both parties on April 8 to discuss the case further.
The ‘No Cable Car Group’ that comprises representatives from various local communities has intensified protests against the cable car project.
The group has been protesting against the construction of the cable car in the Pathibhara region, citing concerns that the project would erase the area’s historical identity.
