Achyut Wagle appointed as vice chancellor of Kathmandu University

Achyut Wagle has been appointed as the new vice chancellor of Kathmandu University (KU). The decision was made on Monday by the Chancellor, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Wagley was called to the Prime Minister’s Office to receive his appointment letter. His appointment follows the completion of Bhola Thapa’s term as vice chancellor, which ended on January 17.
Wagle served as the acting vice chancellor of the same university after Thapa’s departure. He was appointed as the registrar on September 18, 2022.
Earlier, he held the positions of Associate Dean of School of Management and the Head of Management Science Department at the School of Management, according to the KU. “He holds PhD in Economics from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, MSc in Economics from University of Brimingham, UK and MA from Tribhuvan University, Nepal,” it said.
