Five workers killed in Rolpa mud mound collapse

Five workers, including three men and two women, lost their lives on Sunday morning after being buried by a mud mound during the construction of a footbridge connecting Maulabang and Bahirigam in Sunchhahari Rural Municipality-3, eastern Rolpa.
The incident occurred at around 9:50am, said Police Inspector Rohit Kumar Shahi, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Rolpa.
The victims have been identified as 45-year-old Dujman Pariyar, 31-year-old Om Pariyar, 40-year-old Subitra Pariyar, 27-year-old Aaiti Pariyar and 66-year-old Deviram Pariyar, all residents of Bahirigam and relatives.
Seven workers were at the site when the incident occurred. Two managed to escape unharmed.
The incident site is located approximately 40 kilometres northeast of Rolpa’s district headquarters, Libang.
