The parliamentary special committee formed to investigate irregularities and misappropriation of cooperative funds on Sunday recorded the statement of Bipin Acharya, joint general secretary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
Acharya, who was once the creative director at Gorkha Media Network, was interrogated at the committee’s secretariat in Singha Durbar.
Acharya, along with RSP chairman Rabi Lamichhane, is alleged to have been involved in the misappropriation of funds from the cooperatives established under Gitendra Babu (GB) Rai.
Documents revealed that a total of Rs25.6 million was provided to Gorkha Media, including Rs10 million from Suryadarshan Saving and Credit Cooperatives on 13 December 2021 and Rs15.5 million from Supreme Cooperatives on 27 December 2021. Acharya not only transferred the funds to Gorkha Media but also directed them to his own company via Gorkha Media.
Gorkha Media reportedly transferred Rs53.5 million to Nobody Production Pvt Ltd, a company founded by Acharya’s wife, Surakshya Adhikari.
‘Saregama Little Champs’, which aired 37 episodes on Galaxy TV, was funded by Supreme Cooperatives through payments to Nobody Production.
