Under Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Suvanga Parajuli has been awarded Ralph Feltham Diplomatic Studies Prize 2024.
The prize is annually awarded in honour of Ralph Feltham, the founding Director of the Foreign Service Programme. The prize is given to the student who, in the course of a particular academic year, ‘best embodies the diplomatic spirit of the programme’.
Parajuli is a career diplomat from Nepal, currently on a sabbatical as a Chevening Scholar and reading for the MSt in Diplomatic Studies. As a part of his programme, he has studied diplomatic practice, public international law, international politics, and international trade and finance. For his dissertation, Suvanga is researching the prestige motivation of civilizational states.
“I feel honoured to receive this award. I thank Dr Yolanda Kemp Spies, Director of the Programme, and my lecturers, tutors, and programme staff who enriched my learning. I also express my gratitude to Henriette Feltham, who along with her late husband had bequeathed the funds for the honorarium,” he said.
