The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has endorsed Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal as Nepal's ambassador to Canada.
The committee unanimously endorsed Paudyal as Nepal's envoy to the North American country after a hearing on his recommendation on Sunday. Lawmakers had asked him various questions about his vision as to how he would strengthen bilateral relations and benefit Nepal.
Paudyal’s name was endorsed after he answered the questions.
A month ago, a Cabinet meeting recommended Paudyal for the ambassadorial post.
He will formally assume his responsibility after the President appoints him. He will also work as the non-residential Nepali ambassador to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Haiti and as the permanent representative to the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
Paudyal was promoted to the post of foreign secretary in October 2020. From May 2012 till May 2016, he was Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan with concurrent accreditation as Nepal’s non-residential ambassador to Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and Turkey.
